Maisie's most playful time lately has been when she's getting changed. Here's an example:

Pure Joy
There's nothing more joyous than a baby's giggle- especially when it's the first REAL giggle out of a baby's mouth. I missed the first one, but at least I got to experience another laugh in the same evening. What a treat!
And as a bonus, here's Maisie's first attempt at feeding herself.

Toes
Mom missed it, but according to Daddy Day Care, Ms. Maisie discovered her feet today. She grabbed them and held on while she rolled around. She also discovered how to wiggle herself several feet from her play mat by the couch over to Dad's computer chair. He must have been distracted because he missed her doing it, and only realized she had done it when he felt her tapping his chair.

Peas and Bouncing
Here we present one of Maisie's favorite things: her bouncy seat, and one of her least favorite things: peas!

Happy Half Birthday!!!
I can't believe it's been 6 months already, but here we are! And Maisie is doing just fine. Here are her current stats:
Length: 24.5 inches- 0% group
Weight: 13 lbs 13 oz- 12% group
She is still an eating machine and eats every 3 hours or so. The literature her pediatrician gave us says she should be able to go 8 hours without food, but they obviously don't know Maisie!
Silly doctors! I don't know why they keep comparing her to her birthday group instead of her due-date group. She is right on track, if she had been born in September. It makes sense to me to compare her to that date instead. But I learned early on with Maisie, that pediatricians and neonatalogists and doctors and nurses never really do what makes sense! (My apologies to any medical types who may take that personally- don't! That is just our experience so far!)

Happy New Year 2012
We've set goals to make this a healthier year for our family- physically and spiritually. Eating better, exercising, reading the Book of Mormon- 2012 should be a good year for our family!
Maisie is getting involved by learning to eat vegetables and fruits! This week she experienced carrots (I thought it was sweet potatoes but didn't look closely enough before I opened the jar- luckily carrots are still in the "first foods" category as far as Gerber is concerned!) and today Maisie had her first taste of prunes! The carrots were ok, but MAN! She LOVES prunes!
We hope to make our own baby foods soon- a friend had given us a whole bunch she had bought too much of, so we'll use that up first. I'll have to look up baby food recipes for pureed prunes for Maisie!
Happy New Year, friends and loved ones! We hope 2012 will be a good year for you, too!
